How to add dozens, hundreds & thousands to your memberships with these little known subscription selling secrets
Very early in my internet marketing career, I’ve learned how important is to have a recurring income stream (automated monthly payments) and create plus maintain and develop valuable membership sites. To be honest, I didn’t really get it for so many years after that moment. Until … at a certain moment, everything clicked, so I was able to do it professionally.
The thing is that I was able to create them but was not able to sell the memberships. At the end of the day, this model is interesting because you are doing the sale once, and the income comes for months and even years. This is how telecom companies are doing their hundreds of millions of dollars. The truth is that it is not easy to sell memberships online. Of course, you may get some users, but if you want to grow into hundreds, and thousands to pay you o a monthly basis you need to develop a strategy which is usually a combination between scarcity and framing.
Russell Brunson, one of the marketers I am learning from recommends to lead in with a hook of discovery. Something like: “Hey, guys! You’ll never believe it. I just learned this cool new thing and I want to show you. I’m going to walk through it live and take you behind the scenes.”
People love behind the scene stuff, and its associated secrets. This needs to be an invitation to an online event. You can do it recorded but I highly recommend to do it live in a form of a live, 100% free webinar. To have more people registered to the event you must build curiosity & buzz to get people registered to attend.
You can promote it via ads, emails to your list, and social media post to your audience. When you send emails or post on social media I highly recommend not doing it just once, but to create a sequence over 3 to 5 days, at least one message a day.
The webinar has to be 30 to 45 minutes in length, where you show them the WHAT of your discovery 75% of it real good content, 25% product pitch.
Use positioning for yourself, and also storytelling to keep the audience engaged. You don’t need to tell them HOW to do it step-by-step, you can do this in the paid training they can purchase right at the end of the presentation, in the pitch section.
With storytelling you are able to put them in a nice trance, so show the journey to the discovery, explain your findings, and why these are important, show them your results, and paint a picture about what the results they can get by working with you in the paid training can do for them.
If you do the things in the right way, by the end of the 75% of the presentation, people will want to hear more, so will pay very close attention to your pitch.
Right at the end of the presentation, you may want to say, “Okay, so I’m going to be doing a XX-minute breakdown of this training in my membership group, where I’ll show you exactly how to do this. I’ll go step-by-step through each and every detail so you can replicate it exactly in your business.”
And then … you can say something like, “If you’re a member of my X membership group, congratulations! Log into the members area, and register forb the training
Then you can say something like, if you join during the next 5 minutes, I have this special offer which could be a price discount, a set of exclusive bonuses or else. Or you may say that the call will go live only once, without replay, and that the link to register will dissapear in X minutes … just to create proper scarcity.
This frames all the listeners on the call so they will understand that if they are not members, they are going to miss out.
So you may say say, “If you’re not a member yet, you’ve got exactly 5 minutes to join, and after that I pull it off the page, and if you wait even 30 more seconds, you will miss your shot. It’s gone forever, and you will miss the boat.
The thing is to make them to register right away, and to attend the training inside the paid members area. Scarcity is a very powerful trigger & people are usually more afraid to lose something than interested in earning something … it is how the human nature works.
You may also offer a free trial, which will make the offer very hard to resist.
So you may say … “So you better hurry. Go sign up right now at … “. You will see that if you engaged with your audience will get a lot of signups. With membership websites having recurring payment some of the users are cancelling after the first month or earlier, and others tend to stay forever. You need to focus on giving maximum value to your members, and you will be just fine. Just rinse & repeat!
